The 2004 tsunami disaster in South Asia led AidCom-entrepreneur Peder Kvendset to the idea of a safety- and security related information services for travelers. AidCom AS was established June 1, 2006, and the first service, TravelAlert was officially launched in February 2008. The company specializes in news monitoring and systemizing information on crisis situations.
AidCom contributes towards increased safety and security for travelers by informing them on critical situations and imminent dangers. The information is distributed by SMS.
AidCom gathers information by monitoring global news 24-7, using international, regional and local news sources. In addition, AidCom subscribes to updates on extreme weather and earthquakes from state observatories.
