Nigeria: (BBC) - Update: About 500 people were killed in a revenge attack after religious clashes near the Nigerian city of Jos, local officials say. The figure had previously been put at about 100 - it is always difficult to get accurate figures for such clashes in Nigeria. There is a long history of local tension between Muslims and Christians.

UK: Wales: (BBC) - Up to 20,000 civil and public servants in Wales are joining a UK-wide strike in a dispute over redundancy terms. The 48-hour stoppage by the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union is expected to hit job centres and courts, and the Welsh assembly government.

Thailand: (the nation) Tropical storm warning: The Interior Ministry’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has issued a warning to people in 42 provinces in the North, Northeast and Central regions to braced for tropical storms that may hit the regions between March 8 and 12. The warning says the storms may cause damage to lives and property .

Bulgaria: (Javno) - Heavy snowfall and strong winds caused havoc on roads across Bulgaria on Tuesday, road officials and rescue services said. Snowstorms completely cut off access to three small municipalities near Varna on the Black Sea, prompting local authorities to declare a state of emergency for a second time this year, the rescue services said.
